Family of the Furry Kind

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

Since I was teensy (and teensy is something I can never remember being) I have always had animals around me and I will be a little lost without a pet once we get to San Francisco.

Like it or not I am going to share my puppy and kitty love with you all :)

So, go hither and see what a really dysfunctional family has as pets.

The Workmen!

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

We are on to the last room in the house and I have two fabulously ripped workmen in to get it finished.

OK, they are two cute boys I roped in from the street. OK, OK, they are my son and his mate (the one who wrote of his car by driving it into a roof - its possible, trust me!)

So, these two have been working on the room all afternoon, beers in hand, and a few games of World of Warcraft to fill in the drying time. We should have the room done tonight, with just the trim left for me to finish over the next couple of days.

I cant wait to get it set up as an office for 4fthawaiian so he can be happier at work. At the moment he is stuck in the bedroom all day and night. Not good for the morale.

The colour you see around the edges is a deep slate blue, this is currently being filled in :). We did another room the same colour, and it looks amazing.

Hopefully, the house will be on the market next week! WOO HOO!

Oh, please note the fabulous yellow scaffold in the background. We were going to hire scaffolding when we started painting as the ceilings are so high, however decided to buy one as we needed it for such a long time. It’s been the best investment we ever made! TIP: if you are doing a lot of renovations, invest in a scaffold!

LIVE UPDATE! 10:00pm

1st coat of colour

1st coat is on and waiting to dry, so more World of Warcraft and more beer!

Susan, Larry, Emily and Rosie playing Wii

I just found out that I can blog through Flickr, so I thought I would give it a go!

This photo is a shot taken at Thanksgiving last year. This is post turkey, working off the booze and monstrous portions of Tom and his accessories.

Susan, Larry, Rosie and Emily playing Wii, it was a crack up! :)

The Wonder of Music

I have always taught my kids to be who they are and not to bend to peer pressure.

I think I went too far. They took me seriously and now my 23yr old daughter is happily listening to Britney, at full blast so all the neighbours can hear!

Doesn’t she know we have a reputation to uphold? We of the backyard parties complete with live club DJ mixing his own shit?

If this get out, we’re fucked!

No officer, we are NOT playing Britney…. it’s those wankers next door. The ones with the lifesize Flamingoes in their front yard. Yes, yes they do deserve to die, I agree.

*weeping uncontrollably* We are SO fucked!

My Kids are Special!

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

Its been the celebration season around here this month. We’ve had two birthdays, an anniversary and Easter.

It’s been hard work for the poor kids who have to party all night long and come home to bacon and eggs at 6 in the morning….. dragging all their friends whose parents arent so gullible.

These are my kids

Gorgeous, huh?

Kids Special March 2008

Yes… they’re ’special’.

The sky is falling!

I learn something new about my kids every day! Or is it that I forget something about my kids every day?

This morning, a revelation…. Sooz eats cereal for breakfast! For the last 15 years or so, since I have allowed them to actually have a say about what they eat, she has been telling me that she hates cereal…. I quote “Mum, how many times do I have to tell you, I HATE cereal”.

So what do I find her eating this morning?

The hateful cereal, Sultana Bran

What…. the FUCK! With the hated white dairy product, no less!

Once I had picked myself up off the floor and checked the sky for impending doom, I asked her “What the hell are you eating?”

“Leave me alone, I’m trying to be good!” was the reply. Meanwhile I am inhaling some leftover cheese Mankoush from Sunday’s disgusting display of post partying gluttony.

As she is eating it, she is telling me about how she is looking forward to going to work, as her boss has told her he has Easter Eggs for ‘all his kids’.

So, I’m off to Sooz’s work to have a chat to her boss *chuckle*. Maybe I can be one of his kids too!

The Inevitable Post Birthday Blahs

Sunday, March 16th, 2008

No, not MY birthday, my daughter turned 23 on Friday. There are a couple of things wrong with that statement.

1. My daughter is 23. How the fuck did that happen?

Sooz is the cute blonde in the sexy pink swimmers. I have been embarrassing her over the last few weeks by exploiting her cuteness on Facebook with this picture.

BFF

Now tell me, how can anything that cute be 23 already?

2. Today is Sunday and we are still partying. Hello! Her birthday was on Friday! Her birthday privileges terminated at midnight on Friday night… so why was I up at sparrow’s fart making greasy breakfast for her and her hungover friends this morning? Because I’m an idiot!

So, my first born is 23 and she has me wrapped around her little finger. In fact, all my children do. They bat their lashes at me and tell me how much they love me, and I’m putty in their hands. I see it coming, I resolve to be firm and STILL I find myself reaching for another 50 from my wallet, or picking up my car keys to give them a lift home from somewhere.

I know what I’ll do! I’ll move out of home and THEN they’ll be fucked!

Happy birthday Sooz…. I love you!
